Disha NGO celebrates I – Day with Slum Children.


The office bearers and members of Disha NGO, celebrated Independence Day here today, with underprivileged Children, living in hut-ments in Kaimbwala and Kansal area of Chandigarh. More than 50 children presented cultural items after the formal Independence Day celebration.

School bags were distributed by Hotel Diplomat, Shimla to the children along with other gifts. The children coming to Disha Centre are non-school going because both their parents work as labourers and do not send the little girls to school. They manage the home, do the cooking, wash clothes and look after the younger siblings.

At Disha Centre they are provided something to eat, every day; and a monthly hygiene kit containing soap, toothpaste, brush, comb, etc.

Refreshments were distributed by Lions Club International, Chandigarh during the I – Day celebrations.
