The Fit India Movement of the Union government has brought some bad news for pot-bellied cops. Sources said the UT Administration had decided to give pot-bellied police personnel three months to turn fit or lose increment.
UT Administrator and Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore today launched the Fit India Movement in Chandigarh. Besides taking steps to keep residents healthy, the Administration has decided to ensure the police force is fit and smart.
In a meeting with senior officials after launching the movement, Badnore asked them to set an example by going to office on bicycle at least once a week. Badnore, along with the UT Adviser, the Home Secretary and the Finance Secretary will soon pedal their way to office.
A senior UT official said though most of the police personnel were fit, they want all men in khaki to be in shape. He said all cops would be given three months to get back into shape, failing to do so would invite action. The increment of unfit police personnel might be stopped or they could be sent to the Police Lines for a rigorous workout to get rid of the paunch. They might be given postings in departments with less responsibility. Sources said Badnore asked the officials to make Chandigarh the leader in the Fit India Movement.
