The United Nations was founded in 1945 to support collective action to realize peace, development and human rights for all. The UN75 initiative seeks to spark dialogue and action on how we can build a better world despite the many challenges we face.

The UN came into being after the World War – II but there seem to be no respite from war, terrorism, refugee exodus from several member countries, human rights violations and discrimination against women, children, the elderly and the disabled.
More than 50 countries are presently facing ravages of war and many millions are homeless, as refugees in other lands facing second class status. Slavery and exploitation is rampant.
In spite of Japan’s nuclear holocaust, more and more countries are taking to nuclear arsenal; threatening the world peace and the very existence of human race!
How effective has been the United Nations? It will be a matter of serious consideration by the member states, to redefine the role and goals of this world body, during the 75th year of its creation; so that a meaningful direction is available for making the world society, more civilized!!!
