Astha Arora, 21 years old, born and brought up in chandigarh, is a 2020 batch Graduate from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh.
A little effort and your will to do something good, can make a lot of difference , she believes. “How engineering brains could be used to do something innovative to help those in need has always boosted me to learn more !” she adds. The unexplainable pleasure and satisfaction that one feels after seeing a smile on other’s face is the biggest motivation. “Start off by offering a glass of water to the next delivery person you entertain, and you would know exactly what I’m talking about” she says.
Being a part of NSS in the college, Astha started to record books for blind children in the mission called “Sparsh”. She then became a scribe to the blind students pursuing BA at PGGC college, chandigarh. “The immense pleasure that you get when you see them touching skies, cannot be expressed but only felt! One of my special friends for whom I gave more than ten examinations, became a teacher after passing in first division and I could not be happier.” Astha, being a member of IMAGES, got the chance of collaborating with NGO DISHA and actively recorded books in Hindi and English languages.
On asked what do you aspire to be, “A good human being at first, and rest will follow !” she answered grinningly. “Juggling my academics with other interests has been particularly hard, but somehow I’ve always had time for things that make me happy” she says. She believes that just a good thought can give you a headstart, and nothing is impossible if you have the right intention to do it. “Be the change, you want to see in the world” quoted by Mahatma Gandhi has been her life mantra.
